The mission of the consortium Neurotrauma.NET is to generate and to transfer to medical practice scientific knowledge with the objective of improving medical treatment of patients with traumatic brain injury (TBI). Neurotrauma.NET is a partnership between multidisciplinary research groups at different national centers, conducting translational research on traumatic brain injuries (TBI). The aim of Neurotrauma.NET is to provide a solid infrastructure for the establishment of strong leadership in translational investigation in the field of traumatic brain injury both nationally and internationally.

The members of Neurotrauma.NET will develop clinical research projects that aim to generate new scientific knowledge and allow the transfer of basic findings, epidemiological research and new insight into the underlying pathophysiology of traumatic brain injury to the bedside. The consortium will also focus its research on epidemiology and the socio-economic circumstances where these injuries occur and consequently will aid in the development of new health strategies, policies and regulations directed toward preventing traumatic brain injuries. All research projects carried out by the consortium will have as the primary goal the improvement of knowledge of the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying brain injuries. This will facilitate the development of more effective treatments to improve outcomes.
